Should i Buy Her A Ring?

Okay, so i am trying to find a birthday present for my gf(January 7th), shes turning 16, and i was planning on just buying her a white gold necklace with her favourite couloured gem in it or something, but as i was looking i found this great ring.... i really like it and i know she would love it.... and it would not mean any commitment at all... but im not sure about it... plz help really unsure
