How do you separate a Bakelite cap from a threaded metal cup?
I've tried nearly everything to try and unscrew the Bakelite from the aluminum cup. I've used hot water, ice cubes, oil, and even those rubber jar openers. I think that they might be glued together. I'm fearful of using chemicals such as acetone or nail polish remover as they might damage the vintage Bakelite.
*edit* acetone and WD-40
try tightening it a bit first to un pack and break loose the aluminum oxide from the threads also you might try a strap wrench on it and the aluminum....wd40 most likely will not hurt it as long as it doesn't soak on the Bakelite for a long time.
