ebay, what to sell question 2nd post follow-up?

OK, so you have told me a couple options, like drop shipping, " forget it " doesn't work I was told by several people. Other one was "vintage clothing" I'm unfamiliar, but I'll at least check it out on thier site. However I had a different idea in mind, how about " Pencil Landscape Sketching " on say like a 8" x 11" pad paper, then frame it in a cheap walmart frame just to make it look good, and protect it from shipping, and damaged corners etc. sell each one for maybe like $7.00 + $3.00 S/H cost. what do you think? I do have a talent for years of drawing good detailed landscapes with pencil, like stump's, trees, grass, roots, fences etc. Another idea, what about carving soap stone boxes, for a single small necklace.

Just some thoughts:

#1 It will be cheaper to ship an unframed drawing than a framed drawing. Also, you may need to invest more $ into decent packing materials if you are shipping anything with glass. Wrap up a framed drawing and an unframed drawing and take them to the post office to get an accurate shipping cost. Some sellers will build in a little overhead into shipping costs, but if your shipping costs are outrageous, you may lose bidders.

#2 On the flip side, you don't want to lose money on shipping by underestimating the weight of your packages. If you start selling heavily on Ebay, a postal scale is a good investment, especially if you are shipping internationally.

#3 A cheap Walmart frame looks like a cheap Walmart frame. I would probably not bother to frame artwork unless you could get a good quality frame for a great price, and not unless it would enhance the artwork in some way.

#4 If you are unfamiliar with vintage clothing, educate yourself by visiting specialty vintage clothing stores. If you are near a major metro area, this will be fairly easy. Even antique malls in less urban areas normally have at least one dealer who sells vintage. You will do yourself and your customers a disservice if you are unfamiliar with eras, styles, and terminology. Check out the vintage clothing board on Ebay for some good info, too. In my opinion, the easier route for a newbie would be to buy used, popular name-brand clothing in good condition at thrift stores for resale, gradually mixing in vintage as you learn to recognize and identify pieces. Again, use Ebay as a research tool to see what sells and what doesn't.

#5 Probably the best way to start selling on Ebay is sell unwanted or unused items from around your house. There's little to no start-up cost with that method. Try books, CDs, and DVDs, but research to see if they are titles that actually sell. You might luck out and have something unusual or out-of-print in your own home!
