How do you design a Victorian era-inspired room?

I promised my twin sis I'd help her redecorate her new room. Transform it into something more...her taste. Thing is she has a weird taste. She's fascinated with the Victorian era. How do we redecorate her room.

There are a lot of fun things you could to to create a Victorian room with a modern edge. The biggest trend that gleans this era is a print called "damask"--http://www.getarmcandy.com/scripts/fabrics-big/236.jpg and http://www.housefabric.com/images/ProductDetail/29937.jpg are some examples of what a damask print looks like. I think this would look awesome on the walls in a red or your sister's favorite color.

Choose furniture and linens in colors that compliment the walls. It doesn't have to be too matchy-matchy, just try to stay in the same family. I think a dark-finished hard wood floor and a canopy over the bed would look fantastic. To finish it off, Victorian-era art is really distinct and fun. You know those little white women made out of ivory on Victorian jewelry? Don't know what it's called, unfortunately but I think some of that type of art would add a nice touch.
