Understanding A Diamond’s Grading Report
So, you got the certificate and grading report because you were told that you should have one. The problem is that you most likely don’t understand what is contained in the report. Only a jeweler could understand the grading of a diamond, right? Well, you can learn what some of the terms mean in your report.
When it comes to the color scale the diamonds that have no color at all are graded D, E, and F. When the diamond has a little color, but not much, they are given the grade G, H, and I. A slightly yellow color will get a grade of J, K, and L. Darker yellow shades are given the grades P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, and X. A diamond with a fancy color will get a grade of Z. The fancy colors are any other color other than yellow or white. When you are selecting the grade of your diamond, a D grade is the highest and X is considered to have the lowest value. The diamonds that have the most expensive and rare grade are the fancy color diamonds with a rating of Z.
There are a lot of parts of a report on grading for your diamond. You should discuss the details of your report with a jeweler. Make sure that the jeweler you speak to is someone that you know and trust. They will be able to explain what all of the information on the report means.
