Which is better, pokemon emerald, sapphire, and ruby, or firered and leafgreen?

I want to buy one of these games. I have pokemon diamond so I would like to transfer some of the pokemon from the game I buy into diamond. Which one of the games listed above plays better? Are firered and leafgreen exactly like red and blue? Or is emerald better than sapphire and ruby? I would appreciate opinions and descriptions

I have played firered and and leafgreen and yes they almost identical to the original red and blue version except some changes such as the available pokemon and the obvious graphics, moves and a few other little tweaks but otherwise its just an updated version of the red and blue versions.

Personally I would choose to get emerald or sapphire if you're looking for a more recent experience because it is more recent than firered and leafgreen and there are updates on newer pokemon , items, gameplay, attack list, and such. But however, I also prefer training the original 150 pokemon so i choose to play firered, if you want to experience the newer pokemon and gyms and all, then i suggest emerald or shappire.
